  • New seamless gutters are installed with hidden hangers (instead of spikes). Downspouts are secured with 1" straps.

Gutter Cleaning / Leaf Protections

As a homeowner, you know that gutters can collect debris, mainly leaves and branches during the fall and winter, but also during those summer thunderstorms. To keep gutters functioning optimally, the debris must be removed. For Roof Solutions suggested gutter cleaning schedule, check out our Recommended Cleaning Schedule. For any questions about gutter cleaning, check out our gutter cleaning FAQ below.

We offer Hassle Free Maintenance memberships to clean and maintain your gutters. We also offer many different types of leaf protection to prevent debris getting into your gutters. First, the type of house, type of gutters and types of trees on your property will be assessed which will determine the appropriate solution to meet your needs. Gutter Cleaning FAQs
  • What is the purpose of having gutters?

Gutters and downspouts prevent water that falls on the roof from dripping down the sides of the house and collecting near the foundation. They also prevent water from sheeting off the roof and falling directly onto people in entrances, driveways, and walkways.

  • How do gutters get clogged?

Debris which lands on the roof may accumulate in gutters, eventually obstructing water drainage. Leaves are a major source of debris, as well as pine needles, seeds, and small branches.

  • What happens when gutters get clogged?

If the drainage function of the gutters is compromised, water will spill over and drip down the sides of the house. Eventually, this may damage the siding, windows, and doors, and compromise the building seals that keep your house watertight, which would result in water leaks.

  • How often should gutters be cleaned?

This varies, depending on the environment. Generally, it's a good idea to have gutters checked and cleaned twice a year.

  • How much does it cost to have gutters cleaned?

Our rates are very reasonable, and start at $99 for a town or rowhouse. Rates will be correspondingly higher for larger houses, higher houses, and situations where access to the gutters is difficult. If your house is unusual, we will gladly furnish you with an estimate.

  • Can you determine if my gutters are damaged?

While cleaning the gutters, we'll inspect them and report any damage we find, or wear that will soon require attention.

  • Do I need to be home while my gutters are cleaned?

No one needs to be home for us to do our job. We do a great job and our technicians pay attention to detail. If you are not at home, we can leave a door hanger.

  • What if it rains on my scheduled cleaning day?

Situations vary depending on the weather. We all want perfect days for cleaning, but that is not always the case.

  • Do gutter screens or covers work?

In many situations, gutters screens or covers are a great idea. Although debris can sit on top or stick in the cover, this is okay since the entire gutter system still works. If there was not any cover, the debris would clog the outlet in the gutter and prevent the gutter from working at all. We recommend that gutters with covers or screens be checked every 2 years and flushed out if needed.

  • Do gutter screens or covers need to be removed if the gutters need to be cleaned?

As a general rule, we can remove a cover on each end of the gutter and flush water throughout the gutters.
